Warning Signs

Six signs your brakes need attention.

Brakes are one thing you never want to put off. If you notice any of these, come in — the inspection is free.

Squealing or squeaking

High-pitched squeal when braking = pad wear indicator hitting the rotor. Time to replace pads.

Grinding metal-on-metal

Pads are gone, you're grinding rotors. This means rotors + pads + possibly calipers. Don't drive far.

Pedal vibration

Steering wheel or pedal shakes when braking = warped rotors. Usually resurfaced or replaced.

Pedal sinks to the floor

Soft pedal or sinking = likely brake fluid issue or failing master cylinder. Urgent.

Pulling when braking

Car pulls left or right only when you brake = uneven pad wear or sticking caliper.

Brake warning light

Usually either low pad wear sensor or low fluid. Either way, scan and check.

Questions

Brake service FAQ.

How do I know I need new brakes?

Squealing when braking, grinding metal-on-metal, vibration through the pedal, pulling to one side when stopping, soft pedal, or the brake warning light on your dash. Any one of these — come in for a free inspection.

Do I need to replace rotors every time I replace pads?

No. If your rotors are still within manufacturer-spec thickness and not warped, we can resurface or even just clean them. We measure and tell you honestly — we don't upsell rotors you don't need.

How long does a brake job take?

Pads only: 45–60 minutes. Pads and rotors: 60–90 minutes. Same-day on almost every common vehicle.

Can I just do the pads and save money?

If your rotors are in spec, yes. If they're warped or under-spec, doing pads alone means you'll hear noise and feel vibration — and you'll be back for rotors sooner. We check first.

What pad quality do you use?

Standard tier by default (ceramic or semi-metallic depending on vehicle). We offer premium and OEM upgrades on request for luxury/performance vehicles. All pads come with a manufacturer warranty.

Brake warning light just came on — is it urgent?

Usually one of two things: low brake fluid (could indicate a leak), or pad wear sensor tripped. Either way, don't put it off more than a day or two — we'll diagnose for free.
