ADAS calibration in Van Nuys.

New windshield, fresh alignment, or collision repair? The cameras and radar that run lane keeping, adaptive cruise and automatic braking have to be re-aimed afterward. We do that here — static and dynamic — and we are open at 3 a.m. if that is when the car is ready.

When it is required

Five jobs that put a car out of calibration.

If any of these happened, the car needs to be recalibrated before the driver assistance systems can be trusted.

Windshield replacement

The forward-facing camera usually sits on the glass behind the mirror. New glass means new camera position — it has to be re-aimed.

Wheel alignment

Alignment changes the thrust angle the camera and radar reference. Many manufacturers require calibration after an alignment.

Collision repair

Bumper, grille, quarter panel, mirror — if a sensor was removed, replaced, or the structure around it moved, it needs recalibration.

Suspension or ride height

New springs, lift, lowering kit, even a load change on some trucks. Sensor aim is measured off ride height.

Module replaced or unplugged

Any camera, radar or blind spot module that was swapped or disconnected has to be re-taught to the vehicle.

Warning light or fault code

A lane departure or cruise fault that will not clear is often an out-of-calibration sensor, not a bad part.

How it is done

Static, dynamic, or both.

We follow the vehicle's own service procedure. The car decides which method it needs — not us.

Static

Done in the shop with the car parked and level. Targets are set at the manufacturer's specified distance, height and offset from the vehicle centerline, then the module is re-aimed to them.

Dynamic

Done on the road. The car is driven at a specified speed on suitable roads while the module relearns from live lane markings and traffic.

Both

Plenty of vehicles need a static procedure first and a dynamic drive after. If yours does, we do both and tell you up front what that adds to the time.

Systems

What we recalibrate.

Call with the year, make and model. We confirm we can do your specific vehicle before you drive over.

Forward-facing camera

Lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, auto high beams.

Front radar

Adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking.

Blind spot / rear radar

Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert.

360 / surround cameras

Bird's-eye view systems and the individual door, grille and tailgate cameras that feed them.

Parking sensors

Front and rear park assist after bumper work.

Post-alignment recalibration

Done in-house right after the alignment, so the car is not shuttled between two shops.

For the trade

Sublet calibration for body shops and glass installers.

If you replace glass or repair collision damage and you do not calibrate in-house, send it here.

Open 24 hours

Your late install does not have to sit overnight. Drop it any hour, seven days.

Documentation for the file

We return proof of the procedure performed so it can go in the repair file or the claim.

Alignment under the same roof

If the car also needs an alignment first, we do it here. One stop, one invoice, no shuttling.

ADAS calibration is not a flat-rate job. The procedure, the number of modules and whether the car needs a static run, a dynamic drive, or both, all change by make and model. We are not going to post a number that turns out to be wrong for your car.

Call (818) 692-8448 with the year, make, model, and what was replaced or repaired. You get the price and the time estimate before you come in.

Questions

FAQ.

What is ADAS calibration?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems — lane keeping, adaptive cruise, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, parking sensors. Those systems rely on cameras and radar that have to aim at an exact angle. Calibration is the procedure that re-aims and re-teaches them to the vehicle after something moves them.

When does a car need ADAS calibration?

After a windshield replacement on any car with a camera behind the glass, after a wheel alignment or suspension work that changes thrust angle or ride height, after collision repair, after a bumper or grille is removed or replaced on a radar-equipped car, and any time a camera or radar module is replaced or unplugged.

What is the difference between static and dynamic calibration?

Static is done in the shop with the vehicle parked, using targets set at manufacturer-specified distances and heights. Dynamic is done by driving the vehicle at a set speed on suitable roads while the module relearns. Many vehicles require one, some require both. The vehicle's own service procedure decides which.

How long does it take?

Most single-system calibrations take one to three hours. Vehicles needing both a static and a dynamic procedure, or more than one module, take longer. We give you a time estimate when you call with the year, make and model.

Do you take sublet work from body shops and glass installers?

Yes. We take sublet calibration from collision shops and mobile glass installers, we are open 24 hours so the car does not sit until morning, and we return documentation of the procedure for the file.

What does it cost?

Quoted per vehicle, because the procedure and the number of modules differ by make and model. Call (818) 692-8448 with the year, make, model and what was replaced and we will quote it before you come in.
