Signs you need a battery

Five things that mean it's time.

Batteries usually give you a warning before they quit. Here's what to listen for.

Slow crank

Engine sounds sluggish when you start it — like it's working harder than usual.

Clicking only

Turn the key and you only hear a rapid clicking sound. Classic dead-battery sign.

Dim headlights

Headlights or interior lights dim when idle, brighten when you rev. Battery is on its way out.

Battery warning light

Dashboard battery icon is on — could be alternator or battery; we test free.

Older than 4 years

Most car batteries last 3–5 years. Past 4, it's borrowed time.

Recent jump-start

If you've had to jump it once, plan on replacing soon — repeated deep-discharge kills batteries fast.

Questions

FAQ.

How long should a car battery last?

In LA, most batteries last 3–5 years. Heat is the enemy — Valley summers shorten battery life faster than cold climates. Past 4 years, plan on replacing before it strands you.

Can you come to me?

Yes. Through our sister company Apple Roadside Assistance we dispatch mobile jumps and battery swaps anywhere in the San Fernando Valley, 24/7.

Do you do warranty replacements?

Yes — if your battery is under manufacturer warranty (most major brands carry 24–48 month free-replacement periods), bring proof of purchase and we'll handle the warranty exchange.

What's the difference between a regular battery and AGM?

AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries are required for cars with stop-start engines (most 2014+ vehicles) and many luxury cars. They cost more but last longer and tolerate the deep cycling that stop-start systems demand.

Will a new battery fix my charging problem?

Maybe. We test the alternator first — if your alternator is bad, a new battery will be drained again in days. The free test tells you which it is.
